deliriously happy. While
he divested her of her pants, she continued to moon over how wildly and passionately
she loved.
12
Blinded by so much love and affection, she let Chase make love to her. He
took the one precious thing, something she had saved only for him throughout all
these years, the stone around her neck that was her virginity. His invasion of her
body, the way he had came into her was rough, but, he spread tiny kisses along any
open space of her upper body that he could reach, hoping to soothe her , and soften
the blow somewhat.
Due to that caring gesture, she ended up being surprised just how quickly
a romantic, sexual interlude could end. It seemed that he had barely begun his odd
strangling grunts, and moving swiftly on top of her, before he panted loudly as if he
were in pain, his eyes rolling back in his head, the cessation of movement, his quick
brotherly peck on her nose, before rolling off of her and promptly dozing off in to
a deep sleep.
For hours afterward, she lay in a fetal position wondering if this was the
way things were supposed to be between a man and a woman. If everyone lived this
way. And, if everyone had experienced what she had, why did they continue to do
it over and over again? Well, she would not find out just lying in bed, so she shrugged
it off as maybe he just had an off day. She assumed that maybe the intimacies would
improve over time.
From then on, they were no longer just friends, they were lovers under the
cover of darkness. He called her his girlfriend, and he called mainly for late night
bouts of sex. The times that they were not in bed, they met at late at night for
midnight matinees at the theater. They would sit in the seats, not watching the
screen, mainly because they were third rate movies, and that way they could make
out using tongues and teeth, and occasional gropes made beneath each other's shirts.
Other times, he being the man she once knew, invited her over to his house
to eat supper with his parents, Asher and Caroline. Over time she began to accept all
the things about their relationship. One major thing she accepted being that Chase
was a mediocre lover at best.
He loved her, she knew he did. At least that is what she had always told
herself. Telling herself things in the dark always seemed to allay her fears for the
time being. Then, eventually their relationship began to become strained. She began
to have the slightest doubts about him, but, he always seemed to kiss her gently, rattling
her senses, and she would fall into his arms letting him make love to her.
Then, one day, the inevitable happened, one day in the course of events of her
fantasy life, reality once again set in, and rocked everyone she knew and loved to the
core. Another person in her life that she had been close to, the boy she and Chase had
played alongside with as children, Ranger Sheltan Gates, became involved smack dab
in the middle of their demise.
Since Ranger's father Morris, and Chase's father were brothers, they were
close, and therefore a happy family. They welcomed her into the fold, a new, shy kid
on the block, and the rest was history...
Then, without a word, Ranger's mom picked up with him, leaving town.
Fortunately, Chase and Ranger still visited each other's homes over the summer,
and were the best of friends. In the end, Unfortunately, Chase bore the brunt of
the responsibility of ruining everything they had ever built.
He did the one thing that she could never forgive or accept... With one
act of maliciousness, Chase broke her heart, and severed all ties with Ranger..
She told him she would never see him again... In effect, not one of three of them
would ever be on the same terms again.
