US elections 2008: Whose win would be more historically important: Obama or Clinton?

Results so far:

Obama
63% 212 votes Total: 338 votes
Clinton
37% 126 votes

It is without a doubt that each of these candidates will make history if elected president. As I thought about it for a minute I was led to this question "Who has the greatest historical impact: Hilary or Obama?" I asked this question to two of my friends male and female, and both answers were the same, Obama. When I asked them why their reasoning was because he is a black man.

Now of course for the African-American community this speaks volumes to how far we alone have come as a people but in my personal opinion I believe that Hilary makes the greatest impact in history, particularly because she is a woman. In this case her gender out-weighs skin-color. She represents all women where as Obama is still a man, with no attention being paid to his skin color, this country has always been run by a man. So on a larger scale Hilary's impact in history is greater.

For Obama to be able to stand up and say I am the president of the United States of America will be a well deserved triumph for all African-American people across the country possibly bringing a large portion of the world to tears when we think back on our history. However, there is still a separation of people since everyone cannot relate to our history obviously. For Hilary to be able to stand up and say I am the president of the United States of America, it will be a well deserve triumph for all women across the county and around the world, because there are still countries where women are held with no regard to their lives. In the US alone we have had a constant battle where women had to prove twice as hard that they could do a job equal to a man. We had to even fight for our right to vote. For a woman to be president that means many men would have to indeed agree that she is capable of running the country, a feat that they may not be willing to admit but the times call for it.

Each impressive candidate stands to leave their mark in history and as an African-American woman I am equally drawn to each side but in this matter I firmly conclude that Hilary as president carries more historical impact, and pose the question to you to share your view on the matter, would you agree?
