Your Inner Child

by Linda Sajiw

Created on: February 13, 2008

Ah, to have the innocence of the child once again. If we were able to operate from the naturalness of the child in our lives we would have a different world. When we are a child we go to where we are drawn by our hearts until we have the adults around us tug on us pulling us away from our natural curiosities. I work with a lot of people as part of my practice as a spiritual consultant and I see where people get cut off from their inner child.

These days I am hearing about how the governments are looking at extending Kindergarten all day. This is just starting this process of disconnection earlier. Our school system puts a lot of constraints on our children trying to mold them into something that the adults think will help them to be good upright citizens. They are programming them to be workers 9 to 5.

School is not the only place where children are programmed. All our organizations tend not to honour the child's connection to themselves. This is because people see children as ones who are to be trained rather than the infinite beings that they are. Just because a child may not have the language skills or the knowing of certain abilities this fails to mean that they are not intelligent beings.

Children have the connection to the higher consciousness and essence of love that we are all meant to express. They operate from a oneness with all things. When we are doing any healing work for ourselves we are not really healing the child self so much as stripping away the imposed beliefs that have been put on the child by adults that did not know any better. If we can realize this we can in this moment access the essence of ourselves that our inner child represents.

It is only when we are fully present that we are accessing our inner child. Those people that have children will always be shown in the moment just how connected they are to their own inner child. If a child is having a tantrum then the adult can look at their own hidden anger. Children will act out what is happening on more hidden levels of reality by their adult caregivers and the people around them.

An example of this I heard about recently from a friend. She was in an office where tension runs high, an unemployment office. There was a man there that seemed to be quite angry. She could feel the anger and rage spewing forth from this fellow. There was also a mother and her little girl there in the office. The little girl all of a sudden went over close by to where this guy was and starting having a temper
