Common dating rules for Christian teens

In a society filled with lust, immodesty, and loose morals, it is often hard for a Christian teenager in today's world to define the thin line between innocence and promiscuousness. As a Christian teenager, I can I identify. Every time that I turn on the television, I am greeted by innuendos and commercials for personal lubricants, condoms as well as a myriad of different products that claim to enhance your sexual encounters. I see shows that make sex to be acceptable outside of marriage, and they don't even show the hefty consequences that come with it. Sexually Transmitted Diseases are like the flu now, no big deal to our society. Young girls become pregnant by their boyfriends, despite the use of the contraceptive that is "97%" effective and the thought that "it couldn't happen to me". Broken relationships with partners. Sex changes attitudes in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship because of the vulnerability that comes with the act. Relationships get broken off because they cannot handle the pressure to stay away from sex. The people that walk away from these relationships become intimate with all of their future girlfriends/boyfriends because if they did it in the first one, they adopt the mindset that there is no longer any reason to save themselves. Intentions start off good: just kissing, holding hands, hugging, no being home alone or behind closed doors, and no touching of private areas, but the media makes sex out to be a normal part of growing up, and through the shows that the couples watch, movies they go see and the music that they listen to demoralizes them and they end up giving in to the pressure when their hormones begin raging, despite all that their parents and God had tried to instill in them. Me, personally, prefer to adhere to these rules, but often find it difficult what with all that the media is attacking me with. Other teens, Christians also feel the same way. Many feel that it isn't even worth trying anymore, that it is impossible. What they don't understand is that it is. They just need to turn off the world and listen to their own mind.
