The Arab-Israel conflict has been a bleeding wound since 1948, when the independence of the ancient homeland of Jewish people was declared by a new community of Jewish immigrant coming from all the world and, in part, survived to the Nazi extermination and to the persecutions suffered in other Countries of Europe. From then on, many political subjects, Arab and not only, have blown on the fire, prolonging and deepening this conflict and the suffering for the Palestinians and the Israelis, until involving into this bloody mess also the fragile Lebanon, divided between Islamic and Christian communities.
Personally, I don't know whether the end of this conflict is near or far; I think that, with political courage and good sense by both sides, without extremism and dirty political games like those played by Syria and Iran by supporting the fundamentalist terrorists of Hezbollah and Hamas, the solution will be reached within few years. Differently, neither after the next century peace will be restored.
At this point, which is the most likely solution?
Surely, it will be a compromise that will oblige both sides to make concessions on various points and I can try to describe this final possible agreement with my personal modest view of this issue although certain solutions of mine can seem "political fiction".
1) An independent Palestine.
I have no doubt that Palestine must become an independent State, as recognized already by the UN and by the Israeli government years ago. Its borders would include the whole Gaza Strip and, maybe, about 80-90% of the Cis-Jordan, occupied in 1967 during the 6-Days War, leaving to Israel only some territories for a better security of its border.
Of course, the horrible wall Israel is building as a new Chinese or Berlin Wall against possible terrorists coming from the Territories (in the reality, also against all Palestinians) will have to be tore down to the last stone.
2) Jerusalem.
Israel says Jerusalem is its own indivisible historic capital and the same the Palestinians say but, maybe, the latter will accept to have only the East side of the town or part of it. What complicates the situation are the many residential areas that Israel has built and keeps on building for its citizens in the last 30 years, just in this eastern and Arab zone, until surrounding the Arab outskirts.
At least a sector of East Jerusalem will be given to the new Palestinian State but another great problem remains: the old town with all its sacred monuments
