That being said, many ask "what helps depression disappear?"
You've probably read a host of information about depression, so why should this one be any different? Perhaps because of experience with mental illness and Psychology and not so run-of-the-mill treatment options listed here.
Implement all of these together over a period of time before expecting results.
Stop running and tackle it with the help of good friends and professionals!
There are no easy, quick fix solutions.
Here's a variety of thoughts, take or leave at your choosing.
First and foremost, seek out a counselor, preferably of a Christian nature.
Yes, it is an illness, but it could also stem from a spiritual (dark) nature. Not to say it's "demonic" per say, but it is the devil having his way with you and pushing you down further with his traps, tricks and lies. Shock
You may also want to try a counselor that does EEG/Biofeedback, as you may recover quicker and with lasting results. Now, I know all this is expensive and if you don't have insurance could seem impossible. However, with the right know-how you can get the treatment you need. Many cities now have 2-1-1 and that is an information and referral service. Or, look in the phone book under Mental Health Services or surf the web.
Counseling can also help you change your thought process and grow your self-esteem. You could also regain lost self-respect and delve into the root of your depression and other behaviors.
You also may gradually feel less alone. Fight those feelings of alone-ness. Seek out support on the web for self-esteem and depression, there are many resources, exercises and newsletters. Work on changing how you view yourself. Tell yourself good things every day and dump the bad thoughts, you do not have to allow them to linger. You are in control of your thought life - no one else.
Many counseling agencies have sliding fee scales or no and low cost United Way funded groups. Also, check with your church or pastor. Our church has a Depression Support Group. While this isn't one on one, it is support you wouldn't already have.
If you may need medication and don't have coverage, check with the state to see if you qualify for medicaid or perhaps
