Roleplaying games for comic relief

The best role playing game system designed for comic relief is called HOL. HOL stands for Human Occupied Landfill, and it's where all your players are stuck at.

It's not meant to be taken seriously, and it's definitely not meant for children. The entire rulebook is handwritten. Yes, that's right, it's not in some typed font, it's handwritten.

The first time my roommates and I were reading the rulebook, we had to take turns reading because the reader would get to laughing so hard they couldn't talk. We were falling out of chairs laughing and the system and it's descriptions.

Just as a for instance...the skill descriptions your characters can take are hilarious. Instead of a "melee combat" skill, you get your choice of "Sticking sharp things into soft things that scream and bleed", or "Pummeling someone with the assistance of a large object", or "That funky Bruce Lee S*t".

I've often told my gaming group that I play with every week that we're eventually going to break out the HOL, but to do it we're going to need designated drivers, because it is my opinion that copious amounts of alcohol are required to make the rules seem reasonable.

But "reasonable" is not what HOL is all about anyway. Pick it up, you won't regret it!
