How tipping works

himself everyday and never tipped any of us. One day, I and another server stood directly in front of him, as he sat at the table, and loudly flipped a coin to see who had to be his server. Rude maybe but he did start leaving TIPS. The idea being he does this or does not come back. It was a "win-win" situation for us.

Today, one gets to leave a tip/gratuity after the meal, which is great. Taking money off a table would probably serve to decrease the promptness and even attitude of your server.

A server should always greet your table promptly and offer something to drink. If the kitchen is taking an extended time to make food, this is the time the server should notify you. In the instance you have plans for a movie or such or just do not want to wait that long.

Your server should be well versed in the food and drinks offered. Your server should return to your table shortly after serving the food, to assure that everything is in order and if you need anything more with your meal. Your server should have a good attitude (unless you are a non-tipper, I suppose). Your server may not always have control over the bar service or kitchen time but, your server should always maintain control of her/his attitude.

That is how "TIPS" work and you can make your TIPS work for you.
