Animal facts: Horses

Horses are one of the most beloved creatures ever to grace the face of God's earth. We have been drawn to them and pulled by them for many centuries, and we now still use them even though technology makes them almost unnecessary. I grew up two miles from a large Texas ranch, where I would often go to spend the lazy halcyon days of my boyhood.

There is no singular picture that defines the concept of an equestrian. Draught horses conjur an image of sinewy muscle bulging upon the leaden hooves that heave and strain to propel an object of great density to its required or assigned destination. They are the torque and payload of the horse world and do their jobs with great vigor and a sense of propalagatory fulfillment.

Spanish horses are those most oft pictured in the paintings of noble men and women of royal stature or battlefield vanquishment. They in addition can be viewed among the domesticated formerly untamed wildlife that populate the common ranch.

Sport horses is a broad term that defines a realm of equine animals who compete for contests of velocity, articulation, balance, and dexterity. They also are those who assist in the extermination of such wilderness scavengers and nuisance pests as fox and other small animals targeted by the crowd who hunt.

Horses are known to extend their life spans a worldwide average of 25 years to 30 years, though it is not inconceivable for an equine to advance well into its sixth or even seventh consecutive decade. As proof, several horse possessors have reported and had veterinary physicians examine the specimens.

Horses once upon a time were quite integral to the very survival of our fledgeling band of states that created the massive and grandiose country of the United States of America. They were utilized for transport of both human cargo and arduous freight. In the meantime, they in addition found a niche in such vital need areas as fortification of livestock among animals in ranch care.

In conclusion, many people have felt a pang of admiration and sentimentality for the animal known by the scientific name of equine and the more familial and happy name of horse.
