Here are two easy and delicious recipes for college students. These quick recipes are also great for those who are on a tight budget.
The first one we call at home here is Slop.
The amount you want to make is up to you. I don't really have a recipe for this one because you can make it anyway you like.
Last time I made this meal I had enough to feed 6 adults or more. But the great thing about this meal is that taste is not compromised by making small portions for just one person. This recipe is also easily frozen in single portion sizes.
You will need
1 lb. ground hamburger
2-3 cans of cream of mushroom soup
2-4 cups of minute rice
1 can of mushrooms
Cut the recipe in half or down to a quarter of the size for all ingredients, for a single person meal.
Brown the hamburger in a skillet. Cook the rice. Put it all together and serve!
ENJOY!
Experiment with different creamed soups and meat as well.
The next meal that also great for anyone on a tight budget.
We call it Chicken Mushroom Casserole.
You will need
chicken (any kind of chicken will do)
cream of mushroom soup (cream of broccoli or chicken makes a great meal as well)
Stovetop Stuffing
All you need to do is to place the chicken in a casserole dish and cover with the soup, then cover the soup with the stuffing. Cover the dish with tin foil. Cook at 350 degrees. Cooking time varies, depending on the type of chicken chosen. Drumsticks are usually about 30 mins. till done. If you would prefer your stuffing to be a bit crunchy, remove the tin foil when there are 5-10 mins. remaining in the cook time. Serve by itself or add some side vegetables. Green beans make a great additive as a side or to add to the casserole.
