The hotel or the vacation rental home.
Each person will have an alternative vacation criteria and seek varying qualities when selecting a form of accommodation. Several considerations will contribute to the opportunity to fulfill their ideals.
A vacation rental home is the use of a furnished property that is rented for a predetermined timetable i.e., one or two weeks, whereas a hotel provides multiple occupancy lodging ranging from over-night to weekly or longer.
Several factors will need to be addressed in the selection of a vacation base for the individual or family and it will be practical to look at the positive and negative aspects of each choice.
The Location: A vacation rental can provide for a higher degree of flexibility in the choice of accommodation to fulfil the personal needs and requirements of a visitor, from a rustic hideaway in the mountains to a beach side apartment.
Size and Price: We all need to consider the value for money of accommodation when planning a vacation and a rental home can offer more space in terms of living area for your money. A rental will almost always prove to be more cost effective for families and larger groups when you calculate the cost of accommodating the same number of people in a hotel.
Privacy: When renting a home you will be in your own place away from the combined noises and bustles of hotel accommodation. You avoid the interruptions of service workers or in having to contend with any noisy neighbors in adjoining hotel rooms.
Amenities and Services: Staying in a resort hotel does offer the advantage of be a member of staff to help with your every need, 24 hours a day. They provide services ranging from shopping, restaurants and help desks to a concierge and room service.
Vacation rentals offer a wide range of amenities, from fully fitted kitchens, private pools and hot tubs, to your own roaring fire, but certain potential issues that arise may require a little more patience or need to be addressed yourselves.
Food and beverages: A resort hotel will offer 24 hour room service and on-site restaurants, but these can be within a crowded venue and you may be required to queue.
With your own kitchen facilities in a rented home you can prepare your meals in accordance to your own routine and timetable. It offers the choice of eating together at home or to visit a restaurant, and can project a saving when compared to eating out every day.
Home-from-home: If you prefer the opportunity and freedom to be yourselves in a fully equipped home that has all the commodities for your everyday needs, then a rental is ideal. It provides a more relaxing atmosphere with the additional convenience and array of personal items to make your stay comfortable.
Laundry: Your own laundry facilities for when you need it. A high percentage of rental homes will provide a washer and dryer to prevent the wait for the hotel to deliver or a search for your own laundry service.
Outside space: Several vacation rentals are available with their own private outside area. Depending on your location you can have a selection ranging from a balcony to a large garden and private pool. A hotel may offer a balcony but other outside areas are communal and are provided for use by all the guests. A rental home will usually also have their own private parking facilities right outside the accommodation.
To summarize, resort hotels provide a more luxuriant setting for your vacation for travellers who prefer to be waited on and have on-call assistance whenever they require. A vacation rental can be luxurious and be a more cost effective alternative for those who prefer to budget and be more hands on during their vacation.
