Of course, we must start with the magical powers of the oyster. Since pre-history, men have believed it was the basic food of love, and a male who ate them just before an evening of passion would enjoy greater strength and extended performance. Poets have raved about the aphrodisiac advantages of oysters, and authors, poets and comedians still use it in their routines. For instance, the old Henny Youngman complaint to the fish store owner: "Hey, you gypped me! I bought a dozen oysters and you guaranteed they'd work with my hot new girlfriend, but only six worked."
Actually, while oysters do have significant nutritional value, as do other forms of seafood, they have no more effect on testosterone than a tuna salad sandwich. Other male enhancement food legends, such as powder of rhino horn, the sex organs of bulls or whale gonads, while they may be brimming in natural vitamins and trace elements, they have no effect on bedroom or car-back-seat performance.
On the other hand, many foods have been rumored to enhance testosterone levels in men, while not necessarily for medical reasons, they may actually work as social and anthropological encouragements. Sociologists say eating well and sex have been related since prehistoric times. When food was difficult to acquire, eating was one of the only two pleasures mankind could enjoy without interference of kings and governments. Further, quite naturally, to enrich an evening of romantic dining and drinking, couples ended up entwined in bed. The urge, it is said by anthropologists, was created by nature to enhance fertility and thus supply continuous replacements for the human race. What with all the wars and diseases, it is little wonder that sex became an overwhelming obsession with men. All you have to do is observe today's pop music, TV programs and news, movies, supermarket magazines and the internet to realize just how really important it is.
Actually, for young, healthy men who feel passionate about women they're dating or have just met in a bar, foods that increase testosterone, if any such mythical items really exist, rarely need any kind of artificial enhancement. Their basic instincts and physical needs are always prepared to rise to the surface. They're already fired up and raring to go just as soon as they get the right signal from their partner, either whether a permanent companion or one of the moment.
This simple fact, many believe, is why the restaurant and candy industries continue to thrive. As in olden
