Boston

The best dates for Boston college students

From the colorful autumns to the bright city lights, Boston offers romance and excitement at every corner, for the young and cured alike. Your date can be expensive or as free as you like. Picnic baskets on the green, perusing the art galleries, or dressing up to dance to the subway music (there are always people playing) are just a few of Boston's many opportunities for the poor and studying. However, if you have a shred of money, there's much, much more.

For a calm evening, take a bottle of wine and something delectable and seek out a few of the local parks. Brighton, a little town just west of Boston offers one of the best wine shops (Walsh Wine and Spirits) and a lovely community pond just off Lake St.

If the stars are not quite what you seek, pick up a copy of The Phoenix. It's a free publication that can be found on nearly every street or many of the coffee shops (there's another idea). Music is everywhere. Find a good band or maybe even a play and call for tickets. Good restaurants are never hard to find, but I personally recommend Lemon Grass on Mass. Ave. or the Border Cafe in Cambridge.

When music and action is a bit too much, head to the art museum. Exhibits range from elegant to archaic and the cafe downstairs offers the perfect conclusion. Boston's aquarium brings a different focus, but with bay views and coral spiraling behind an array of exotic fish, you can't go wrong.

If your date has the blues, maybe fish aren't the way to go. The comedy scene is not far off. Check out clubs on Boylston St. or Faneuil Hall. There's enough laughter to lighten any mood.

Also, don't be afraid of the subways. Whether new to the area or feeling like a road pro., it's best not to take chances on those Boston streets. Did you know the road system was made from cow paths? My point is, no matter how wonderful you have your night planned, losing your way could end the fun. If you can afford a taxi, that's even better, but again, don't be afraid of the subways.

Sure, there are theaters, as there are theaters in every city, but Boston's not about popcorn. Take your date for a real night out. Between music, food, acting, and museums, there has to be something up your alley. Enjoy Boston's vibrant atmosphere.
