that I'd really listen to, but I didn't hate it. Remember this: yes, the tape is for her, but I've got to be able to listen to the music without gagging. When you give a girl a mix tape, she will listen to it. Over and over. So be prepared.
After spending three days on my computer trying to make the perfect mix tape, I finally had a finished product. The Goo Goo Dolls covered the romantic part, a little Norah Jones for her, a little Springsteen for added flavor, and a collection of mushy songs that I'd usually change the station to avoid hearing.
All I had was the mix tape, though. I needed more. Sure, it was personal and that was what she wanted, but, let's face facts, it was cheap. So, a short drive later and I'm walking around the local drugstore looking for a card and something to go with the tape. I was feeling good because the first song I had put on the mix tape was playing on the radio (Norah Jones, "Turn Me On"). Soon enough, I found a pre-made gift basket containing candles, a teddy bear, and other objects I'm sure only a woman could identify. One shiny bow later and I had the perfect gift. It was personal, thoughtful, and cheap.
After driving back to my house, I add the mix-tape to the basket and go to stash it in the closet. That's when I find what she got me in the same closet; a brand new Fender guitar.
I'm going to have to spend more money.
