When I first heard about REVENUE SHARING websites, I was excited. I immediately saw it as an opportunity to make a lot of money as a writer. Most of my income comes from deadline related projects. I thought it would be nice if I could build up an income stream with the revenue generated from some of my articles.

So, I submitted an article to the site of my choice. And waited. And I only made a few cents. Did I give up? No. I realized some things.

1. I didn't have enough articles submitted into the system. One article will not generate enough income to make it worth my while.

2. I wasn't promoting my article. If I had told people to read it and check out my article, I would have made more.

3. I didn't read the terms of service. Some sites let you submit articles to multiple places because they don't expect full, exclusive rights. On other sites, you could specify the kinds of rights I'd give up.

In my opinion, those are the three ways you can make revenue sharing lucrative for you. If you follow the formula of write often, promote the articles, and submit articles to multiple places, you can easily set up a nice income stream using revenue sharing.

There are revenue sharing sites for social bookmarking communities, blogging, articles, videos, photos, etc. For me, the easiest is to submit articles. Some writers and online workers have multiple skills, such as photography and producing videos. These are things you can use for revenue sharing.

My advice would be to pick one site and focus on it for a while. Be consistent with submitting one or two pieces of content a day. Promote your work and participate in the site as often as you can. That way, you can maximize your revenue. Also, look for an RSS feed. A lot of sites have them now and it is a good way to promote your work and direct people to your content.
