Could the Republicans' aggressive stance against Ron Paul backfire on them?
What are the chances that the Republican attack upon the Ron Paul Revolution will blow up in their faces? I'd say that those chances are getting pretty good. Dr. Paul was assured that he would not face an opponent for the Republican nomination for his congressional seat, but low and behold, a challenger has arisen. Some see this as a clear effort to silence Dr. Paul and his message. Taking his focus off of his Presidential bid to face his congressional opponent, and shaking the faith of many of his national supporters may be just what the Neo-Cons ordered, but could this be just another miscalculation in a long history of Neo-Con mistakes?
Up till now Dr. Paul has been the consummate gentleman. In stead of showing rage at Rudy's stupidity Dr. Paul offered him some reading material. Instead of storming off the stage during biased and unfair debates he showed patience and poise. Even when he was unfairly cut out of debates he showed true class while pulling attention away from other candidates using venues like The Tonight Show. Even while facing obvious voter fraud the grandfatherly figure from Texas has shown remarkable patience and restraint throughout the entire primary process. But perhaps it is time for that patience to turn to something else. Perhaps it is time for that restraint to bubble over and stoke the fire of the revolution. And perhaps the Republican congressional challenger may be the spark which will ignite a new fire which has thus far been missing.
Is it possible that, if Dr. Paul should actually lose the Republican nomination for his congressional seat, that the slow burning, gentlemanly patience of Dr. No could erupt into a raging inferno of passion, which could lead to an unprecedented third party run? A campaign which could actually threaten the Democratic and Republican parties?
I'm not saying that Dr. Paul could become a raving loon, but the time comes when you've got to get angry. Or as Howard Beale in the movie Network put it: I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad. You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all
