Remembering professional wrestling's Eddie Guerrero

It had been a few years since Eddie Guerrero passed on. Now, his biggest issue was that the drugs and alcohol of the past had caught up to him and took his life. How it happened and not too many others has to do with his own body being different from everyone else. Instead of talking about this too much, it's time to look back on his career.

While I'm aware he was in New Japan and ECW, where I saw Eddie 1st was in a place called World Championship Wrestling. He was a United States Champion and a Cruiserweight Champion over there. One of his biggest matches was the bout with he fought with Rey Mysterio at Halloween Havoc over the Cruiserweight in a Mask vs. Title match with Eddie being the champion of course.

While he had a mild dose of success in WCW, unfortunately however it didn't translate into going into the WCW Title picture. Perhaps what I think part of the reason was because of how over the New World Order angle led by Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash, the foundation of it starting back at Bash at the Beach in 1996. The worse angle he did in my own personal opinion was the Latino World Order. It was seen as a worked shoot but to be honest, it was just plain dumb. The New World Order by that time was getting boring and way too repetitive.

Sometime in 2000, Eddie went to WWE, which was WWF. He came in with Benoit, Malenko, and Saturn to form the Radicalz. One of his 1st titles was the European Championship before eventually moving on to the Intercontinental Championship. His run would last for over a year but what got him fired were his drug and alcohol problems.

He would not be back until the following year. He overcame the problems and since then had become an inspiration. Before he embarked on his biggest run in the company, he had popularity and was becoming huge with Los Guerreros teaming with his nephew Chavo, whom is the reigning ECW Champion, with the phrase; "I lie, I cheat, I steal!" It was done in such a way that instead of hating the Guerreros, people loved it and became cheering them thus making them faces. When Chavo got sidelined, he then slowly began going back into singles and got the US Title 1st.

The final stage was in 2004 and he became WWE Champion by beating Brock Lesnar. It was a huge moment due to the fact nobody had ever imagined Eddie as a WWE Champion in the 1st place. The biggest moment had to be at Wrestlemania 20 when Benoit and Guerrero both held World Titles and celebrated in the ring. His run would come to an end by the hands of JBL. He would have one last title teaming with Rey Mysterio only losing it soon thus turning heel for the last time.

Ironically after the feud with Mysterio, he would then go for one last World Title feud albeit with Batista. He would come up short and thus become semi-face for the last time. Originally going to be World Champion to take the spot after Batista got injured but due to his unfortunate death, that didn't happen at all. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania 22 becoming the 1st one to get inducted right away after his death since Andre the Giant back in 1993.

Whether you liked Eddie or liked, he gave it his all in the ring. You should at least respect him. I wish he was still in the ring but that's not possible.
