Until women who carry the weight of the world on their shoulders are recognized within both society and politics as not just equals, but as essential members as their fellow man, feminism will never be considered outdated. The fact that while a woman is actively running for President, and her being a woman may be her downfall is the perfect example of this. Being a woman should not be considered a defamation. Yet it is. Women are considered a minority, behind men. There exists in our world something that is called a double-standard, and that is completely uncalled for.

The human race would not exist if not for the woman. How it has always been that men are the superior beings in spite of this is astonishing. Not only is this an intense physical strain on a woman, it has mental drawbacks, as well. We are often forced to choose between staying home to nurture our children, rearing them for the benefit of man, thus losing respect of those that believe that we should work. The other choice, of course is to go back to work and risk the ridicule that we are abandoning our child. It's a catch-22 no matter which way you view it. Though, a man who is a new father, has not the same moral dilemma. That they do not, is simply one more strong indication that women are considered beneath the priority of society. If a woman can carry the child of a man, why should she not be able to decide what that child must endure?

I agree that feminism should indeed be outdated, but if only we had the equality of any other man, or any human being at all, for that matter. Instead women in today's workforce earn .77 cents per any man's dollar. Since 1920, when women fought for and earned the right to vote, we have been fighting an uphill battle, at best. Instead of looking down upon those women that stand up and point a finger at all of the problems that women must face, we should focus on those that force women to endure those hardships.

If a woman excels at a career, one of the first assumptions that is uttered is that she 'slept her way to the top'. This is not only usually untrue, it is unfortunate and completely unfair. This is never thought of whenever a man is the epitome of his field. The reason may be that a man would not sleep with another man for a promotion. Because most seats of power are held be men, women are forced into a society that is based upon the opinions and practices of those men. This is the way that our current society works, unfortunately.

Not only are women exploited in professional arena's, we are oppressed in our private lives, and subjugated to abuse within our sexual lives as well. Forced into prostitution to establish ability to run a household, because we are thought to be not competent or good enough to work in the field of a man. Then we become criticized for using our 'feminine wiles' when that is all that we have ever been allowed to practice. Whenever a man feels threatened by the ability of a woman, we find ourselves forced into taking one step forward, yet two steps back.

These are not even the only situations that women must face. The general consensus that men have about women is that we aren't nearly as smart as men are. Thus we must often have to prove ourselves as being intelligent creatures. The fact that there is a woman running for President of this Country, and that we have posed the question, "Are we ready for a woman President", is the perfect example of why feminism is not outdated. Men that boast that they will not vote for Hilary Clinton because she is a woman, is an example that the feminism movement may never die.
