Practicing Christianity

Are your New Year's Resolutions Already
Slipping from the Priority List?

Change Within for Christians Today

We all want a feeling of progression in our lives yet, at the same time, we tend to hold ourselves back with our old, worn, comfortable patterns. How can we balance growth and consistency to have more of the positive changes we crave? Many of us think long and hard about our New Year's resolutions leading up to the coming year, while we celebrate the thought of achieving those goals and ring in the Holiday. But then, sooner than we think, much of our enthusiasm has dimmed into a small flicker and we start kicking ourselves for not following through with our grand plans; or even our not so grand plans. How do you change that flicker into a flame?

Complacency and stagnation seem to be the norm, yet we know deep inside, we are not "normal" people. We have the deep feeling of being "chosen" which calls out us to reach higher and higher. We have Scripture telling us that we can become more, give more and be wiser in our lives and relationships.
We sense these things deep in our hearts. To help us battle through the seemingly impossible task of breaking through to the next level, dependency on the Lord is the Strength we need. We know we must lean on Him to let Him lovingly change us. We cannot easily change ourselves.
We long for a full life filled with satisfaction, and we know The Father is big enough to do it for us. But are we small enough to let Him change us, or is our "old self" fighting hard against it? This kicking ourselves for not meeting our own expectations is not the fulfilling life we crave. It's not the positive change we desire; it's the same ol,' same ol.' How can we really change?

Successful Methods

Not our will, but His Will be done. We've heard it a million times and we whole-heartily agree, but do we force our feet to walk where we know they should, when they should? Do we get out of bed every morning glad to praise Him verbally, for our very life? Do we walk to our Bible to read some Scriptures out loud, soon after rising? If we don't start our day right, how will the rest of it go? Half the battle is first thing in the morning, no excuses.
No more "what if" this or "what if" that. You don't belong to yourself; you were bought for a price. Concentrate. Don't tell yourself you're doing all you can and then fret and complain again. Focus. You were made to praise Him so then He can show His Giving and Loving nature to you; and isn't that what you
