Poetry: What I see

Sarcastic Chick in the Corner

I am the sarcastic chick in the corner.
I see everything you do, and you never know I'm there.
I hear all that you say, and you never realize I'm listening.
I reserve my judgment of you until I know who you are.
What I hear and see changes my views of the universe constantly.
And with all this information, I think.

I think about others' opinions, ideas, theories.
I think about current events, and extrapolate possible outcomes.
I see war, famine, disease, poverty,
And I wonder.

I wonder if we will ever overcome our differences.
I wonder if this will ever be a world of peace, plenty, health and wealth.
I wonder if humanity can save itself.
And I wonder if we should.

I ask, is anything being done?
I look, but I see no changes.
I feel the world spiraling towards destruction, and wonder if anyone else does.
I dream of one unified Earth, without language and culture barriers,
Yet I fear that this will never be.
I hope that humanity can work it all out,
But what do I know?
I'm just the sarcastic chick in the corner.
