Jesus is alive on Earth today. He walks the world today in the hearts of his followers and sees the world through their eyes.
When He walked the world as a man two thousand years ago He looked into the hearts of men and saw darkness. He spoke daily to anyone who had ears to tell them what is standards are, what is required to live as He desires.
In the garden of Gethsemane He looked down through the generations and saw the darkness growing. He saw slavery, He saw lynchings, injustice in the courts. He saw the rich exploiting the poor and heard the cries for mercy. So He went to the cross.
From the cross He could see people of our time calling themselves Christians while hating the Jews. He could see pastors and priests abusing boys and little girls while preaching from the pulpit.
He has seen elected officials engaging in criminal acts, abusing power and robbing the public treasury. He has seen political parties come and go in America for over two hundred years. Some good men men and women have gone to Washington and tried to do His will but they few and the lawyers are legion.
Would Jesus be Republican or Democrat. Given that the Republicans have a more traditional world view derived from Christian principles, Jesus might favor them. He certainly would be appalled by the Liberal interpretation of His principles dominating the Democratic Party.
Did He not say homosexuality is an abomination? So would he not be a little annoy seeing political parties embracing openly gay citizens while pushing Christians aside. Democrats call Christians "Religious Extremists" just for holding to God's principles.
However, though Jesus might be more in favor of Republicans than Democrats, His first day in Washington won't be a pretty sight for either party. It will look more like the day He cleared the temple in Jerusalem.
He won't win a primary, He won't place a single ad looking for anybody's vote. When He comes back He will be taking charge. There won't be a single entity in Heaven or Earth who can tell Him no.
It's less important which party He would join and more important if you are already a member of HIS party. The politics of eternity always take precedence.
