Poetry: A fallen world

I remember San Francisco

I remember San Francisco, Haight Ashbury and the square
I remember San Francisco, though I really wasn't there....

A few years young to be on my own, a few years young to go all alone
A few fears, and many tears ago
I remember San Francisco

I remember all our dreams, Baby Boomer's flying high
Nothing then was as it seems, and nothing we wouldn't try

I remember San Francisco, Haight Asbury and the square
I remember San Francisco, though I really wasn't there.

Peace and love and healing, fun and laughter filled the air
Our senses all were reeling, this was life beyond compare..

Until some of us let go
I remember San Francisco

How did we loose our direction?
When did we lose the way?
Wars are only rejection
Where's the love that was here yesterday?

I remember San Francisco, Haight Asbury and the square
I remember San Francisco, though I really wasn't there.
Still I'd like to go back again;
I'd love to go back again
This time I won't let go,
Until all of us remember
San Francisco.
