An introduction to blogging

Blogging will introduce you to the world. Think of it a zillion people will magically appear and read every word that you write. Well, perhaps not a zillion. The basic reasoning for writing a blog is to deliver information to readers. You want to make an interesting and informative space that readers connect with you. How do you do that? The content.

The kind of content that you put on your blog is going to identify who you are, what your interest are and what your motivation is. There are some important keys to follow when deciding upon what kind of content should go on your blog.

1. Topic - Your content should all be focused on one subject. You may be able to write on various topics, however, you want to target your audience. By writing consistently on one topic your readers will come to believe that you are an expert on that topic. In reality, you will be or you will become an expert. The more posts you place on your blog, the more research you need to do to keep the content fresh. The topic of your blog will determine if it is a traffic getter or a strike out.

2. Flexibility - Be willing to bring in various aspects of your topic. Perhaps even aspects that you are not in favor of. By offering a place for feedback or comments, your readers can be drawn into the debate. Readers love to add their two cents into your perspectives. By remaining flexible, you keep your blog on the hot list.

3. Posting - Keywords in the first three sentences will bring up your articles when they are searched. However, placing the keyword in every other sentence for the entire blog will drive readers away. If you are selling a product or service, great. But pull the reader in gently, don't hog tie them and drag them in kicking and screaming. If you write informative and interesting articles on the topic of your product, readers will be more apt to come to trust you and thus by your product.

4. Advertising - If you are going to use ads on your blog, be sure that you add buzzwords to your ad selection. Keep the number of ads to a minimum. There should be more content - not more ads.

5. Persistence - Persistent bloggers become successful bloggers. Don't give up because the traffic jam isn't happening. Keep blogging, keep writing, and focus on the principle of providing interesting and informative information. Make your blog different. Make it count. Make it stand out. But make it.
