TV show reviews: Smallville

for computer hacking, has pined over Clark since day one, and has won fans over with her charisma, ambition, and the vibrancy she brings to the show. Lionel Luthor, Lex's mogul father and CEO of LuthorCorp, also wins the fans over with his ruthless cunning and a type sadistic brilliance that rivals that of Lex Luthor's comic counterparts.

For seven seasons, Smallville has entered the hearts of many, and its length has caused the show to earn its spot as a heavy hitter on television, nevermind the CW. But like any show subjected to the control of time, Smallville has gone through gradual changes over the years. Some argue it may not even be the same show it once was. With the introduction of many characters Clark should face when he's Superman, (i.e: Braniac, Zod, Bizzaro) and the dark tone that has cast over eerily over the once family friendly atmosphere the show used to convey, fans now find it a bit more difficult to connect with it.

Everyone from the Superman mythos has come to pay a visit to Clark. Lois Lane, Perry, Supergirl, and Jimmy Olsen. Not to mention that heroes such as Green Arrow and Impulse have managed to run into his path, all of which seem more of a hero than the main character of the story who is perfectly content with "cuddling on a couch in domestic bliss with the love of his life, Lana Lang." And though some of these characters add an intriguing storyline to the story of both Clark and Lex Luthor, one can't help but to wonder if their presence is just the writer's desperate attempt to milk the cow dry. For an eighth season, it's time for Clark to don the tights, for Lex to don his suit, and for Lois to get a pen. It's time for these characters to arrive at their perspective destinies.

But overall, throughout its ups and downs, the show manages to entertain its audiences every Thursday Night with new and exciting plot twists that sometimes gets you to wish the show would drag on for as long as possible. Though the show's quality has changed profoundly, it doesn't mean that it has lessened.
