Several years ago I lay wounded, crushed and defeated on the battlefield of life. Since my early years I'd had no idea how to utilise my inner strength, in fact I didn't realise that I had any! Therefore as I searched about me for colour and only perceived grey shades I placed my unsure feet on the long and dangerous route to escapism.
I sprinted away from responsibilities in my search for an alternative life-style, little realising that for me alternative meant self-destructive. I now understand that there is nowhere to escape to, for we arrived on this planet with a ticket stating that the return date is not before the day we die, so here we must stay and face ourselves! We are required to plant our errant feet firmly upon the ground, otherwise we are blown around by any mischievous or malignant wind that chooses to drift our way.
Yet not so very long ago I was unaware of any of this and only knew that I'd ended up with nothing, or less than nothing because I'd lost my child, my health, my self-respect and the respect of my family.
I choose not to enlighten you as to the details of the long road that took me to that place in time because I'd rather show you the ways in which I raised myself up when metaphorically crippled and torn. I will tell you though that at this terrible point in my life my only ray of hope was the fact that I could choose to die. Yet I did not! Why?
In retrospect I assume that my innate, inner strength finally decided to rouse from its slumber. I began to desperately yearn to throw off my chains, stand up and walk out into the fresh air and sunshine, yet was unaware of how to do this. My bonds seemed to be so invincible and it's easier to remain slaves to the habits to which we've become accustomed. I'd made it a habit to be a victim of life's pressures and circumstances.
Nevertheless I had always known that there is a power in the universe of which I'm a part, so I opened my mind up to the possibilities of tapping into the source. I began to see that this energy was within me and could be utilised simply with positive thinking. If I could only see myself as a fighter then a fighter I would be!
If life wrestled me to the ground then I would wrestle life and clamber up again, and this is exactly what I did. When I became aware that I am powerful and as strong and energised as anyone or anything else in the universe then I perceived that I could walk on water.
I took a long look into the mirror of the creative force
