The over-dependence and use of medication in today's society has spiraled out of control. No one wants to be ill, but neither do we want to listen to the good advice given by our doctor. It is much more convenient to pop a pill and get on with doing what we want to do. However, we are seldom aware of the final cost to our health from taking this path.
We don't want advice on living a healthy life: we want a quick fix. Pharmaceutical companies know this and have answered our demands for a quick-fix pill for most common health complaints. Because we will not listen, most doctors have little choice but to treat the effects of our abuse to our bodies with a prescription.
Common medical advice such as eat a well balanced diet, get adequate rest, fresh air and exercise, goes in one ear and out the other. We are busy people, on the move and in a hurry. Always trying to earn a little more money, save a little more time and gain a little more enjoyment from life.
However as time passes, bad choices will catch up with us. The money we earned will be paid to doctors, the time we saved will be spent in doctor's offices or hospitals and the enjoyment we strive for will be elusive: forever beyond our reach.
Medications for stress related health issues are big business today. We seek a band-aid to cushion our pain, instead of resolving the issues that cause the stress. We are not willing to give up the status quo and try another way. We are forever trying to control the world we live in, but not our bad habits.
What good are the things we want to possess if we are too stressed out to relax and enjoy them? We don't need half of what we are convinced we need to be happy. We work ourselves to exhaustion for possessions that can never bring happiness. Harmony and peace of mind are what we really seek, and no amount of medication can give us this.
With our busy schedules, sleep is relegated to the tiny area of any left over time. Our bodies rebel with fatigue and we seek a pill to boost our energy. These are usually caffeine-laden pills, which wreck havoc on our blood pressure. We are playing with fire.
Our diets are another big supporter of the pharmaceutical companies. The old saying, "You are what you eat." is true. Doctors have long known that our health is directly related to our diet.
Our digestive systems give rise to a vast number of complaints due to a poor diet. Similar to your car's gas tank, use cheap fuel you get bad performance, use good
