Misty rain haloed street lights
Illuminating hunched up people walking fast
A chill wind lifts debris, looks, then snaps them
Curling over streets glistening in wet transparent overlay
Bar-bee's buzz from dive to hive
Across red neons fractured reflections
Distant sirens echoes, yelps
Demanding passage from weary travelers
Blind from wipers oily smear
The rain, anointing, cleansing, purifying, sanctifying
Even the harlot red neons bold stare
Slap-dab tax'i wipers, slamming door, then gone
