Dressing to make the most out of a small chest

If you have a small chest then you can make the most of your size by dressing with certain considerations in mind. Unlike the larger chested women you will be able to wear outfits in a similar fashion to many catwalk models who share a similar figure to yours, at least in the chest department.

The following is a guide, to what will suit you and what to avoid, that will help your figure to appear balanced and poised. At the end is a section especially for the smaller chested man.

1. Details.

You will be able to wear details such as ruffles, frills, buttons and embroidery at the top half of your dresses and blouses. This means that you can take advantage of the many fashions today which only look great on women with smaller chests.

Any material details which stand out on an outfit on the top half will help to give you an appearance of being slightly larger in this area yourself.

Gathered and smocked blouses and dresses can be worn, as can other details such as zips and pockets on the chest area.

Flat, plain material and styles will be less interesting and will create a flater appearance to match, and so are best to be avoided.

2. Necklines.

High necklines will look great on you. Polo necks will give you the appearance of having womanly curves and a larger chest.

You will also be able to wear deep, plunging necklines such as those worn by actresses at film premieres seen walking along the red carpet. Larger ladies have trouble wearing these and are in danger of revealing more than they may want to, whereas you will be able to wear your plunging neckline with confidence and aplomb.

Vee necklines are best worn by larger ladies, rather than by smaller chested ones. The vee shape does nothing for adding shape to a figure and it best as a means of 'breaking up' an area which is already large.

Any top which has a lower neck, apart from the plunge will detract, whereas any top that has a high neck will enlarge.

When it comes to bathing costumes you will look great in a two piece, such as a bikini with a triangular top, or even in a very small bikini, as this will make your cleavage appear larger.

3. Material.

Stretchy material will look great on your figure. You can actually wear Lycra well, whereas the rest of us will look pretty awful in it.

Figure hugging tee shirts and tops will show off any curves and make them more prominent, whereas very loose items will swamp a small chested woman and make her look out of proportion.

You can also wear the opposite type of material, that which is woolly and thick without it making your top half look out of place.

4. Patterns.

As with details you can wear clothing made of patterned material. This can add interest to an outfit and also take the emphasis off of your chest size.

Patterns can be created with beads, buttons and different textures of material as well as being printed onto fabric.

5. Color.

Light colors for garments to be worn as tops are best as they will enlarge your size. Steer clear of wearing black on top unless you have included details in this area also.

6. Especially for men.

If you are a man with a small chest then you can emphasize your masculinity by making your shoulders seem larger. This will help to give your chest a larger appearance and to give you a well balanced figure.

You can wear shirts that have wild colorful patterns if you wish as this will give the illusion of size.

If that's just not your style and you prefer plain and simple garments, then wear a classic white shirt, or another pale color.

Avoid tight tee shirts and go for a slightly looser fit, but not one which swamps you.

Jumpers which are chunky and thick with a high neck will suit you, as will double breasted suits.
