I am a Vietnam era veteran and fortunately I am not disabled. It just frustrates and irritates me that our Commander in Chief who was essentially a draft dodger is all too willing to send our military personnel into a war that will not be won, to fight for our beloved country and many ,many of them have been killed or permanently disabled. George W Bush could care less about those who return with out legs or arms or permanently disabled in some way. He is much more concerned about getting Halliburton another billion dollar contract with out them having to go through the bid process because Halliburton is giving him big kickbacks, He is more concerned about corporate America. He and many members of the Senate and Congress never served in the military. He is more concerned about helping some illegal immigrant than he is in helping a veteran of the United States Military that volunteered for the service and gets wounded protecting his freedom. He brings them home and won't even help them. Heck I even heard about one disabled veteran that got a big reenlistment bonus and then got wounded and they made him pay back his bonus. WOW, what a guy. A real red-blooded American huh? I respect his office but as a man and an American he is a joke. He never served in the military and he just barely got out of college but he is president. It is really sad that our Commander-in-Chief treats our disabled veterans the way they are being treated. No support and very poor medical care if any.
When we enlist in the all volunteer military today, we agree to defend our country to the death and to uphold the constitution of the United States of America, and we are proud. He thinks that the constitution is just a piece of paper and he has no more honored his oath of office than the man in the moon. All we as veterans want in return for our service is to be helped out with medical and help in getting housing. George W Bush will give aid to an illegal immigrant before he will help a disabled veteran who fought to protect our country and the freedom of the people to make bad decisions about running our country. If our government would spend one THIRD of the 338 BILLION dollars they spend every year on the illegal immigrants, our disabled and non-disabled veterans would have no problems at all. It is pretty sad when the Commander in Chief of the military is more interested in helping illegal immigrants than he is in helping or disabled veterans. I am so glad that 2008 is here and we will soon be rid of George W. Bush and his administration of corporate America people. Maybe our next president will be more interested in America and helping America than lining his pocket with kickbacks from illegal dealing he and Cheney have pulled Anybody would be better for our veterans than George W Bush has been. Our veterans deserve better and hopefully they will get it from the next administration.
