Poetry: Truck drivers

Trucker's Doll

She sat underneath the apple tree watching the sunset begin it's vibrant decent into the tall maples in the distance.
It was a warm June evening. The flowers in perfect bloom, the vegetable garden quickly growing with excitement, the apple tree dropping delicious gifts of juice. Everything sat so perfectly, the air was right, the view was dazzling, the blades of grass beneath her feet tickled her toes.

She sat there waiting... waiting for him to come home to all the splendors that grew in and around their life together. She missed him deeply when he was on the road but knew that his truck would always find its way back to her. So every night she sat under the apple tree wishing the road would turn him around. Her belly was growing fast just like all the other things on their property. Soon she would need help standing up, she prayed for him to make it in time.
She could hear the breeze dancing upon the top of the apple tree
She could smell the pie in the oven that was made with the very same apples
And still she sat in her white dress on the grass watching the sun kiss the sky good night.
Wishing she could once again feel his lips on hers. Wishing to feel his lips on her hands, cheeks, forehead, neck and unborn child that hid itself beneath the clean summer linen dress that hung for her beautiful pregnant form.
