Who's contact information would you like to find? The Internet is a great place to search. It can be a lot faster than a regular old phone book. Technology is your friend. You should learn how to use it. First you need to decide where on the Internet to look.
ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A BUSINESS OR PROFESSIONAL?
Try YellowPages.com. It sounds very obvious, doesn't it? It's the same thing as a phone book, but easier to search through. Right as you open the home page you are asked which business you are looking for and where you want to search. You can either search for general businesses such as "restaurant," or you can search specifically for "TGI Friday's." You will also need to type your zip code or city and state in the location box.
If you go the specific route, it will list every TGI Fridays in your city. You will find the address and phone number for each Friday's restaurant. You can then call to make sure they have tables available and that they have your favorite kind of chicken in stock.
If you go the generic way, you'll have an extra step. "Restaurant" will give you many choices, especially if you live in a big city. YellowPages.com shortens the list to categories of restaurants. You can choose from Chinese, Italian, and even fast food. Next to each category will be a number in parenthesis. That shows how many are located in your city. You can select more than one category to browse under at once. This helps if you and your husband are arguing over seafood and pizza.
ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A SPECIFIC PERSON?
Well, if you use the yellow pages for businesses, you use white pages for people. This is where WhitePages.com comes in. It's also the same as your everyday phone book except you can search by the person's name, their address, or phone number.
On the homepage, you'll see a box to find a person's information. Type in a name and a location, if you have it. Hopefully, you have at least an idea of where someone lives, especially if their name is John Smith. You'll be going through thousands of people named John Smith if you don't have a specific location. When you look up a person it will show you their name, address, phone number, and possibly a job title and place of employment. It will also display a map of where their address is located.
Does someone keep calling you, but you don't know who? Reverse Lookup is the way to catch them. Chick on the tab at the top of the page. It will ask you for a phone number instead of a name. It will display the same information as if you were looking up a person by their name. Now you know where they live.
