For years I always thought I was a cat person. I could be playful, selfish, possessive, and at times quite lazy. However, there were a few parts of me that didn't quite match up so I was stuck with just being human. That is until one day a friend told me that I reminded him of a ferret.
The only time I even saw a ferret was in the movie "The Beastmaster". They were cute, playful, natural thieves and seemingly devoted to each other. One of them ended up being the hero of the movie when he sacrificed his life to kill a bad guy. I would later see another one be a hero in the movie "Kindergarten Cop". This intrigued me so I bought a few books on the little critters.
I found out that they are very playful, but serious about being playful. They're total adrenaline junkies that love to put passion into everything they do. Like them, I find myself digging into anything that catches my fancy - and unfortunately, like the little weasels I can get easily distracted and lose track of what I was doing. But, when I get distracted I get REALLY distracted!
They also know what's theirs (even when it might belong to others). Now, I'm not one to steal things, but I do know how to find bargains. I tend to horde everything I own (the wife is still trying to convince me to toss a few things I haven't touched in over 10 years) and if anyone borrows anything from me I tend to nag until I get it back - and yet, I'm terrible at returning stuff I borrow.
Their passion runs into every activity of their life. When they play they play hard. When they work, they work hard (a group of ferrets is called a "business". seriously). When they sleep, they even sleep hard (some actually look comatose when they're unconscious). They also have a tendency to be very emotional when annoyed. I'm pretty sure that these descriptors fit me - well, most of the time.
Ferrets are naturally social creatures that try to get along with every creature they see (even prey!). I like to get along with everyone - but, I guess I have the common sense to know that some people just don't want to be friends all of the time.
The one thing that I have in common with ferrets is a complete devotion to family. All ferrets mate for life. There are documented cases of when a ferret's mate dies they'll stop eating until they join their mate (unless there are kits (baby ferrets) involved. I this case they'll wait until the kits are grown before joining their mate. If a ferret's family is threatened they'll fight to the death to defend them.
What can I say? They're probably nature's most perfect creature. I just wish that more people were like them.

Most likely, a horse. Horses just suit my personality the most, and not just any horse you find on a ranch either; wild horses.
