How to fall off a horse and avoid injury

How to fall off a horse

I have been riding horses ALL my life and the first thing that came to my mind when I was little and mounting on to a HUGE horse was NOT to fall. I would keep telling myself your not going to fall off your not going to fall off but of course one day I fell off. My aunt who had been teaching me about horses all my life told me that you cant be a horse rider if you haven't fallen off the horse at least once and I have alway remembered that saying. So if anybody knows things and ways about NOT to fall off a horse... I think it would be me.

When you get on the back of a horse it means business and not fooling around. If you want to become a professional then you have to act like it too. If you act too silly around horses it can frighten them. Yes even huge horses can be frightened! But if you are goofing off on a horse and it becomes frightened then they might not know why you are acting like this and wonder if there is something to be scared of and start to run. After a while they will probably start to buck too which comes to falling off. This is why you need to act serious and listen to your riding instructor and know these things.

Things not to do when falling off

If falling off head first, don't break your head and helmet. cover your head with your hands and curl up in a ball to protect yourself. (be sure to get a new helmet every 6-10 months so it is strong enough to protect you just in case) *after you have hit the ground stand up quickly. True a horse should never step on a rider but this horse is now running around the arena wild and free. *be sure you always ride with a friend or something so that you have someone there to help you. *if you are ever scared do not show it because the horse can feel it when you are scared and will wonder uh oh what is she scared about should I be scared too is there something chasing us? So always act confident. * never force your horse to run faster if they are already in a very quick run this can cause a horse to become angry and start bucking.

Things you need to make sure of

*always wear a helmet
*never ride alone
*check the horse's girth, feet, legs, and bridle before mounting the horse
*be sure to remember a whip if you have a lazy horse (but this is not used to hurt your horse but to remind him or tell him that he needs to go faster if he does not listen to you after you give him a kick)
*BE SURE TO GIVE YOUR HORSE LOVE AND CARE!
