You can decide to make the travel you were dreaming when you have:
1) MONEY: verify your budget that mustn't be strictly sufficient, but in excess respect to what is necessary, to face every umpredicted circumstance or purchase. So, wait more and put off your holiday, but not make strict economies just on holiday. Life mustn't be wasted!

2) TIME: choose the right time to make your travel, if possible, not in the full of summer, when in holyday places the crowd is at the top, like prices too.

3) FULL CONSENSE: of course, if you have a family, you mustn't force anybody to go with you in a certain place or in a certain period, because this could create tensions in your family, more enhanced than at your home and you risk to continue your holidays or come back home... Alone.

4) CLIMATE: you must consider the best period to go on holidays in a particular Country , because bad and constant weather can spoil your holidays, expecially if based on walking and open-air activity.
For ex., it's not the case to go on holiday in Florida, Louisiana, Caribbean Islands, during the hurricane season, in September - October; you could find....Too much wind!
As well, you shouldn't go in India during the monsonic rainy season (April - October) because you could find....Too much rain for your standards and also be particularly tormented by mosquitoes and insects.
