Blondes: Do they really have more fun?

I was blonde for 25 years. Naturally of course! Did I have more fun than your brunette or red head? Probably not. Society measures beauty in all sorts of ridiculous ways. Weight, height, Hair length, hair color...etc. When in truth, women should search for what is personally flattering to them. If your complexion does not compliment blonde or cool tones, then I encourage you to let it go!

I find blonde tones are becoming harder to pull off for more and more women. There is always the consequence of wash out, damage to one's hair, and the dreadful upkeep that most do not attend to in a timely manner. ROOTS! There is nothing I hate more than see a woman with lovely blonde hair growing 2 inches away from her scalp. Being blonde comes at a price. And that price is due every 4 to 6 weeks maximum. One way to remain blonde but reduce upkeep is to have your colorist add a low light in with your blonde. Bleaching one's hair is a harsh process. It can certainly be done in a healthy manner, if your colorist is careful. Let's face it, you can be as blonde as bleach and 40 volume will take you but if it looks damaged and frayed its not attractive.

I have a client that desires to be as blonde as I can take her. She will even comment that she does not mind losing some of her hair during the process as long as it is as blonde as it will go. This is a tragedy! Not only does the integrity of her hair look nonexistent, her hair is so weak that it breaks daily when she styles it. I have slowly but surely pointed out to her that this process cannot continue. I said, " Baby, your hair is a disaster and it is starting to look like a cheap wig". I also asked that she did not tell people I did it! This got her attention.

If you desire blonde hair discuss your options with your colorist. Express great concern about having healthy hair. Please do not misunderstand me, I love to see beautiful blonde hair. It can be striking. However, not everyone is meant to be blonde. Seek out color that is right for your complexion, your hair type, and your personality.

I am no longer blonde. And yes, I am still having fun. If the key to happiness and fun was in hair color, Honey, all hairdressers would drive BM's and live in mansions. We would be the most over paid yet well deserving people in the world. If magic like that came from Redken, Matrix, or Toni and Guy, hairdressers wouldn't have to fret about retirement! Nevertheless we do love the joy we bring you even though its not the secret to life.

Blondes, brunettes, red, and even gray are just a few of the beautiful colors out there. Hair color has made so many advances in the past few years. The assortment of pigments are endless. Choose your hair color wisely. Make a statement by selecting something perfect for you, not what looks good on Reese Witherspoon, or Jessica Simpson. They certainly look fabulous but Ken Paves is not everyone's best friend, and nor do most people have several hit movies. Please note that these beautiful women have personal stylists.

It's the most fun to look your best, to feel comfortable in your own skin, and to be who you are. Let no one deem what is beautiful for you. You will find you are the sexiest when you have been true to yourself.
