How to Relieve Gall Bladder Pain
The gallbladder is a small pear-shaped, sac-like organ on the under-side of the liver. It stores bile. Bile is synthesized in the liver and stored and concentrated in the gallbladder.
Bile helps in digestion of fat in the food we eat. It is released from the gallbladder to the upper small intestine in response to food, especially the fats.
Gallbladder disease is not uncommon amongst the adults, especially the women. It includes inflammation, infection, stones or obstruction to the outflow of bile from the gallbladder. The associated pain may occur as bouts of severe pain or may be have a slow running course.
*Method of relieving the pain will depend on the type of disease. There are various options available ranging from simple non-surgical measures to surgical removal of the gallbladder.
Acute attacks of abdominal pain due to gall bladder disease are usually excruciating in nature and treated in the hospital. Pain killers are prescribed depending on the type of disease and the results of tests done. The pain killers may be given in the form of pills or intravenous injections. After the acute attack subsides, the sufferer is sent home with medication.
Pain killers in the form of over the counter drugs are effective in relieving most forms of chronic gall bladder pain. In some cases, pain may only be relieved by surgically removing the gall bladder.
*An array of natural or home remedies are available to relieve gall bladder pain. Their effectiveness depends on the type of disease and the exact nature of the cause of pain.
1. Fresh juices of beet, carrot and cucumber 100 ml each is advised to be taken twice daily to clean the gall bladder. It is said to be beneficial in treating all disorders of gall bladder.
2. Both the fruit and juice of pear is said to have beneficial effects for gall bladder pain when taken in plenty during the day.
3. The flowers, seeds, and roots of chicory or the whole plant are considered valuable in gall-bladder disorders.
4. Juice of Dandelion combined with a vegetarian diet, without much sugar and starch has beneficial effects on gall bladder disease.
5. Some nature cure practitioners advocate olive oil and sunflower oil to cure gall stones. Raw, natural, unrefined oils of olive or sunflower are recommended by them.
While a number of remedies are available to relieve gall bladder pain, it should be noted that on many occasions a complete alleviation from this condition may only be achieved by surgically removing the organ.
