In order to compete and succeed in today's competitive business marketplace, each and every company is forced to create a strong and useful Internet presence. Restaurant owners need to recognize the necessity of a web component to their business, or risk being left behind in a constantly evolving digital age.
The Restaurant Website
Simple to detailed, bright and colorful to more refined, the website designed to highlight your restaurant should be representative of your style of food and atmosphere. For fine dining, your website should be both classy and polished. Family fun food should be colorful and exciting.
Outside of overall aesthetic appearance, every restaurant website should have the following key components:
- Domain Name Try to secure the exact name of your restaurant as the domain name for example Anthony's Pizza-rant should be www.AnthonysPizzarant.com this will make it easy for your customers to remember and find your website on-line.
- Restaurant Logo Be sure to feature your logo at the top of your website this will ensure visitors that they have found the right website.
- Address and Phone Numbers It seems basic doesn't it? But if you leave off your address and phone number, diners may not be able to get directions to your restaurant or call to make a reservation, place an order for pick-up or check wait times.
- A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words This doesn't necessarily mean the more pictures, the better but it is definitely important to include key images on your website. Exteriors of your restaurant will add to the overall recognizability of your location. Close-up, well shot pictures of dishes allow visitors to see what they will be ordering when they arrive, and provide a level of certainty as to the quality of your meals. Pictures of your customers will allow web visitors to see what type of people eat at your restaurants important for restaurants geared towards families, adults, and even senior citizens!
- The Menu Above all, this may be the most important component of your restaurant's website. Most visitors to your website will be looking for the menu, and the menu only! Be sure to have a detailed, complete menu complete with descriptions of dishes and prices.
The Next Step
Once you have developed the website for you restaurant, the next step is to implement basic, yet cutting edge, Internet components including web-based ordering systems and web-based reservation systems.
