Finding seasonal employees

Word of mouth is one good way of finding seasonal employment and potential employees should be aware of this. How well you have treated your former employees is how likely others will be directed to your farm, factory or whatever, may well depend on how well you have dealt with former employees. Finding seasonal workers should not hard if you keep up good communication with them.

With marketing and other non-agricultural work where you only need extra help sometime during the year for a few months, why not depend on nearby college or university students. You list your job needs online on their school's web site, in the local paper, and post jobs on their office bulletin boards.

From these you will be able to get school break workers to sell your shoes, your clothes, your books and to work as public swimming pool lifeguards during summer months. Baby sitting should not be a problem if you employ high school and college students. Instructors and helpers at camps for youth are just waiting for classes to end in May before signing on for new adventures.

Depending on what kind of temporary job you are offering, another place you might find help is at the local employment office. For whatever purpose you need extra help during some season of the year, there should not be a shortage of available candidates to do the job.

Even the jobs themselves, although temporary, possibly only are needed during certain times such as heavy snows, and other winter weather work needs. The employment agency would be a first place to search, as would be the office of the temp businesses. These are the places when you look for help when suddenly you find yourself in need of fill in workers.

With unemployment as it is here one wonders why it is often necessary to bring in workers from other countries to do the work no one here is willing or able to do. The grueling long hours in the hot sun working in the farmlands bringing in crops is often a thankless job but would it be so if it paid adequate wages? I am speaking mainly from a Unites States perspective but this could be applicable to other countries.

Yet, the title refers to seasonal workers and this brings on associations with workers that come here from other countries to pick our fruit, our cotton and to do the dirty back-breaking work our own workers won't do. Yet, if the working conditions are better and the pay is better and the overall work situation is not so low rung, would not more workers be willing. Or is this an option?

Beware
