Can Hypnosis Relieve Depression
I have suffered with depression most of my adult life. I have tried so many different things to help relieve the depression that I can't count them on all my fingers and toes put together.
I have been through different classes that try to educate people on how to use other forms of life to redirect your attention to something, or somewhere else, when the feeling of depression is coming on. There are many different types of depression, their causes, and the different stages that people go through, that first of all, you have to figure out what category your depression falls under.
Science has produced so many different pills that are now on the market, that a person could, and have committed suicide just trying to relieve the level of depression they are suffering from, to feel better about themselves, and their lifestyles. There are a great number of levels from which a person suffers from depression. I could never list all the types or levels that are out there. It starts off with just feeling down or lonely, and builds to more serious classes of depression.
From a person that has suffered from depression for as long as I can remember. My depression is brought on from having suffered from chronic pain since I was young. I can't tell you to what levels of depression I have suffered, just from not being able to do most of the things a normal, healthy person can do. I sit and watch everyone jumping and running around having so much fun, and I can't join them.
When I am depressed, I try finding a special place in my mind that helps me get through. Doing some sort of craft, or any sort of project that you like, can help redirect your mind. This redirection of thoughts, are all it takes to stop the onset of depression, at least some of the time.
Some of the pills that the doctor has me on just make me feel as if I am in outer space, sometimes, depending on the dose I take. I hate taking these drugs, because I like the feeling that I am in control, with whatever I am doing with my life.
In times, when the pain gets really bad and my mind can't get into a special place to relieve the depression, I have to take a pill, even though I hate them. I feel as if I have lost control of myself and have a hard time getting myself back on track. It's then when I need the medication the doctor has put me on so I don't do something I will later regret. It just seems that I have lost control, and I don't know what to do.
Even through all the classes, drugs, and even hypnosis that I have tried, at times there is nothing I can do to help myself and I need the help of others. If that is the type of help you need, don't allow yourself to feel guilty about asking for help from others, it's all a part of life that is not so pleasant, but it is necessary for some of us.
Another thing they have showed me to do is take a relaxation tape, lay down with the tape on, and try to relax while the sound of the waterfalls, or birds singing, or wind through the trees, whatever you like, runs through your mind, total relaxation. Sometimes this helps you get over the hurdle of the onset of a depression attack. It does not always work; it's just one of many that may help.
Whatever you try, and can't do, don't be embarrassed to ask for help, if need be. Hypnosis may help some people, but for millions of others, it does not work at all. I found it to be a waste of my time. Then that is only my opinion.
