Movie analysis: Scary Movie I

"Scream 2" also died in a movie theatre. She was back in the second and third films, being killed again in the third, and then resurrected in the fourth. Other than Cindy, she is the only other character to have appeared in all of the Scary Movie films.

Shorty Meeks (Marlon Wayans) He is based upon Randy from "Scream" and Max from "I Know". He is Brenda's brother and is shot in the chest by Bobby. However, he comes back in Scary Movie 2.

Ray Wilkins (Shawn Wayans) He is based upon Phil from "Scream 2" and Stu from the first "Scream." His name is taken from the character Ray in the "I Know" series. He is Brenda's boyfriend but is openly gay and is stabbed in the head by a penis (parody of Phil's death). He is later alive in the film and is Bobby's accomplice (parody of Stu). He is then stabbed in the back by the real killer, but comes back in the sequel.

Buffy Gilmore (Shannon Elizabeth) She is based upon Tatum from "Scream" and Helen from "I Know". She is decapitated but her head remains alive. Her name comes from the character Buffy from the TV show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", who was played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and who also played Helen in "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

Greg Phillipe (Lochlyn Munro) He is based upon Barry from "I Know". His first name Greg is related to Cindy and Bobby, all characters on "The Brady Bunch." His last name is from actor Ryan Phillipe, who played Barry. He is killed by Doofy at the pageant (parody of Barry's death).

Drew Decker (Carmen Electra) She is based upon Casey from "Scream" and is the first killed in the movie. Her name is from actress Drew Barrymore, who played Casey.

Doofy Gilmore (Dave Sheridan) He is based upon Deputy Dewey from the "Scream" movies, Doofy being a spoof of Dewey. He is Buffy's brother and is believed to be mentally retarded. He is also the "real" killer in the movie. At the end of the movie, it is revealed that he faked being retarded.

Gail Hailstorm (Cheri Oteri) She is based upon Gail Weathers from the "Scream" movies, her last name Hailstorm being a joke on Weathers. She commits a murder in the movie by running over a boy. She and her cameraman are killed, but she shows up at the end and picks up Doofy for a date.

The original Scary Movie film was highly successful, grossing over $42 million in its first weekend and going on to gross over $278 million worldwide. Its sequels were also successful, and continued to be parodies of horror films and other films and television shows, all while spoofing horror sequels. It is also considered to be one of the first in a long line of recent spoof films, including "Not Another Teen Movie", "Date Movie", "Epic Movie", and "Meet the Spartans."
