There are plenty of ways to lose weight but I haven't found any that I thought were easy. The first one I tried was years ago after the birth of my twins. I read an article the the diabetic diet was the most perfect way to eat. It would enable you to lose weight if you were slightly over weight and provide you body with all it needed to live a health life style.
This sounded great to me so I went to the library and got all the books I could find on the diabetic diet. I did lose the weight I wanted to lose but I was hungry all the time and very cranky. I did go back to my usual way of eating and thankfully I didn't gain back any weight. I think it was because I was young and very active.
After my second pregnancy I didn't diet but I hadn't gained much weight so I didn't really have a problem. It wasn't until all my children were in school that the scale started going up again. This time I enrolled myself in Weight Watchers. I lost about thirty pounds but again it was hard. I would lose one week and gain half back the next week. It took me almost a year to lose those thirty pounds and I struggled every day.
I was told eat less, eat more, exercise more. My days become a walk in the morning, stationary bike riding in the afternoon and another walk in the evening. I call my exercise program my self inflicted abuse program. If I slowed down my exercising I would start to gain again. But, by this time I become a stubborn old girl so I stuck to it. Besides, we were now empty Nester's so I had all the time I needed to exercise.
Then my husband passed away and I had to go out to work. Have you ever tried to work, diet, and exercise all in the same day? I didn't do well with this routine and before long I packed on more then fifty pounds. What was I going to do? My doctor said I must lose some of the weight I was caring.
Hello Dr. Atkins. This seemed to be just what I needed. Bacon and eggs for breakfast. A chiefs salad for lunch and meat and salad for supper. Wow! This was great. I even dug out my old stationary bike and began riding while watching tv. The only food I missed on this diet was pasta but the scale was going in the right direction so I could do without the pasta. Beside I would treat myself every once in a while to a bowl of pasta but no more then once a month.
I was sure this was the answer to easy weight lose. I was eating, exercising and losing weight all at the same time. Who could ask for anything more? Then the pain started. Just a little at first. Hardly noticeable. Then a little stronger. Finally a trip to the doctors office. I was sure it was just indigestion but it turned out to be Gall Bladder.
I had a gall stone. Not a bunch of small ones but one great big giant stone. It was so big it had to be removed the old fashioned way. My surgeon told me it was not uncommon for people on Atkins to develop stones. He suggested I give up the diet. His advice to me was, eat healthy, get plenty of fiber and drink lots of water.
I did as I was told and less then a year after surgery I find myself overweight again. I tried Weight Watchers once more. In three months I lost two pounds. I exercised more. Nothing. I tried several weight loss products on the market and the only thing that become lighter was by purse.
If there is an easy and safe way out there to lose weight, I wish someone would share it with me. Oh, and by the way, please don't tell me it is my age. It is because of my age I would like to shed fifty pounds. I want to continue to add to my age.
