It's not often I'm speechless, ask my poor husband. But when I saw the list of summer activities Breckenridge has to offer OFF the snow, I was gob-smacked! I've been a frequent visitor to this beautiful, and very popular tourist destination for decades. I knew the feeling of viewing breathtaking, snow capped mountains at 9.600 feet. I knew the slopes like the back of my hand, and many of the regulars as well.

But when I read an article on the Internet, itemizing all the OFF snow activities, available in Breckenridge, I had to sit down. How on earth did we miss all this? I guess the snow had us enchanted, but the thought of glorious mountains laced with colorful wildflowers, was beginning to crowd my dreams.

Crystal- clear waters, were filtering into those dreams as well. Trolling the rivers, lakes and streams was beginning to play within the mind. And we were to find out soon enough, that wasn't all that Breckenridge had to offer the summer vacationer. There was a host of delights just waiting for us. You've never seen me pack bags,and book a trip so quickly!

Ah summer, gentle breezes, sun kissed skies, 300 odd days of annual sunshine, and a medley of summer activities to thrill us to our very core. Yes we were there! And this time we had a list, and we weren't heading home until we experienced at least half of Breckenridge's new found delights. But what to do first? Well this was certainly a hard decision,but we finally opted for some mountain biking.

BIKING:

An up close, personal view of the rugged peaks of Breckenridge was superb. With well over fifty miles of assorted cycling terrain, hubby and I had a ball. The sensational views of craggy peaks, lush forests, and serene rivers had us singing merrily as we pedaled along. I guess I'll be giving our age away, when I say we sang "Daisy" until we were almost hoarse, but what a time we had!

The mountain streams beckoned a little too much, and yes two giggling seniors decided to throw all caution to the wind, and went swimming naked as jay birds. The cool, refreshing mountain stream was just what we needed, after riding for ten miles. USA Today actually deemed Breckenridge as "One of the top ten places to take kids on a bike ride." So families would enjoy this just as much as we did. The trails suit all riding abilities. Rent a cycle and enjoy Breckenridge up close and personal.
