Internet marketing has become almost mandatory for businesses. Relative to traditional means of advertising, internet marketing is an affordable way to reach the masses. However, the problem with internet marketing is that the internet is so massive (in regard to the number of web pages) and there are only so many words that a person can use for his/her keywords. As such, bidding wars begin for highly coveted keywords (the keywords that are most searched by consumers) which in effect disturb the entire theory behind the affordability of internet marketing. Due to this problem with expensive keywords, many creative internet marketers started experimenting with other ways of advertising.

It is no secret that advertising costs money. Television marketing can cost thousands and even millions (depending on the time and the date) and newspaper advertising is too limited by means of circulation. Additionally, marketing in the national recognized magazines and newspapers can be very expensive. Therefore, even though you have solved the problem of limited circulation, you have not solved the problem of expense.

In my opinion, the internet is still the best way to advertise for a business. Now a days, many people fire up the internet instead of reading the newspaper. If you see a restaurant or new store that you would like to visit, you may go online to check for reviews or information. The point is, the internet provides the best free advertising (absent word of mouth) that can be had. However, the size of the Internet is still a problem. Therefore, how do you get people to come to your webpage without breaking the bank?

Article writing is probably the best method for accomplishing this goal. The reason for this is that if a person likes your writing, he/she will most likely visit your website to read more of your work or to discover more about you and your product. Article writing is free (except for the time it takes you to write the article, which will not be long once you develop a routine) and many websites let you submit your article to their website for free. Thus, not only are you creating back-links for your webpage (which will move you up in the search engine rankings) but you are creating a buzz.

In addition to these advantages, article writing can earn you additional revenue by way of posting advertisements on the same page as your articles. Therefore, not only are you advertising your business, but you can also earn a small amount of revenue every time somebody visits the webpage displaying your article.

The one thing you need to be aware of is that posting only one article is not going to do much for your exposure. It is a process that will require you to submit many articles over time. But if you are persistent, you will start to notice the increase of web traffic to your website.
