to be a benefit to the long-term prospects of that marriage. This has been demonstrated through studies as well as simply observation.
But that's not all. It is perceived that youth who receive similar signals on religion, faith and behavior from their parents will have a greater facility in life and with making choices about religion and personal happiness and productivity.
4. Homosexuality is a sin
While there are plenty of Christian denominations that seem to accept homosexuals into full fellowship into their congregations, most real Christian sects refer to homosexuality as a sin. Thus, Christian teens are taught that any homosexual urge should be fought and dealt with.
This does not mean that homosexuals are, across the board, rejected from the Christian faith. Indeed, the true tenet is to love the sinner but hate the sin. Thus, Christian teens, in keeping with the fundamental tenets of their faith, are taught to be accepting of homosexuals, but to never practice any kind of homosexual behavior.
5. Associate with Christians
Similar to rule number three, associating with other Christians is a common rule for Christian teens. The reasoning is the same: spending time with people who have similar values and hold similar things true will reinforce your own beliefs and values. Christian parents are concerned with the welfare of their children. They feel like having their youth surrounded by others of a similar faith acts like a bulwark against many of the incredible challenges that youth face.
We can't state unequivocally that all Christian teens are guided by these five common rules. Differences exist between sects and families. However, it is fair to say that these rules will be the most commonly found rules amongst Christian families.
