MySpace superstars have tons of friends and connections. Whether you are and actor, comedian, band, or just a simple person wanting some popularity, MySpace is the way to gain exposure. Many of your favorite actors, comedians, bands, and even movies now have their own MySpace page for fans to check and leave comments. How do you think Tila Tequila got a show on MTV? She started on MySpace.

If you don't already have a MySpace account, sign up at MySpace.com. It's very easy to do, and if you want to be popular, you'll need to set your profile to public view so everyone can see it without adding you as a friend.

Now that you have a MySpace, you'll need to "trick it out," as the kids say. Of course, you can add your interests and favorite quotes. You can even write in your blog. What you really need to get a great MySpace page is a theme and some cool pictures and add-ons. There are many sites that have free themes that include a background, font scheme, and even cover ups for your contact box and extended network box. Here's a list of a few good sites to check out for themes:

Getting a theme is one thing, you'll also need to get cool applications and graphics. If you Google "MySpace graphic fun", you'll come up with over a thousand sites dedicated to dressing up MySpace. Find some fun glitter graphics or pictures to post around your site. You can put them where ever you want, it's your site. You can also find your favorite videos on YouTube to post on your MySpace. All you need to do is look for the "embed" code on the YouTube page and add it to your MySpace.

Just remember to keep it fun but minimal. No one wants to wait three months for your MySpace to load.

Now that you have a rockin' MySpace, you'll need to get friends. There are some people or bands that will request to be your friend for their own exposure. Go ahead and add them. If you want to be popular, you have to start somewhere.

Groups are a great way to add friends. Join a bunch of groups and add the top members as friends. You obviously have something in common if you're in the same group.

For anyone that wants to join as a band or comedian, find your comrades. Add other bands and comedians. This is cross-exposure. You'll both advertise for each other. You can also work out a deal with someone to put each other in the top friends box. Top friends are shown on your MySpace. This is basically advertising your friends. "If you like me, you'll like my friends!"

If you get into a great deal with a fellow MySpacer, you can actually have someone put a banner for your page on their MySpace and vice versa. A banner is basically a big picture link to your page just like advertisers.

Another great way to gain exposure is to get more pages like a MySpace such as a Facebook or a Friendster. You can link them all together to generate more traffic.

In the technological age, it's relatively easy to gain adoring fans. They're at your fingertips. All you need is MySpace.
