Book reviews: The Goddess in the Gospels, by Margaret Starbird

This is a book review for THE GODDESS IN THE GOSPELS "Reclaiming
The Sacred Feminine" by Margaret Starbird. The book is a true story
of the many events and coincidences that occurred in the author's
life that led her to realize the lost bride of Jesus Christ, Mary
Magdalene, and how this realization of the lost feminine aspect of

early christianity relates to current christian perspectives.

The first four chapters are recollections of her visits to churches
and shrines in southern France that are devoted to Mary Magdalene.
She describes her visit to the Basilica of La Madeleine and some of
the history behind it as well as some of her own personal history.
Later she describes her family life growing up, her student life,
and her husband's career as a military man as it relates to her
subject.

Chapter four is about the Community Emmanuel, a catholic prayer
and study group of the Chapel Of The Most Holy Trinity, which she
was involved in. She describes some of the strange occurrences that
happened to her and members of the group as it relates to events
that were occurring within the catholic church at the time. She
then talks about then current events like the eruption of Mount
Saint Helens and the Challenger space shuttle explosion as it
relates to the prophet Isaiah and the condition of the catholic
church at the time.

After the shock of what her newly discovered realizations about
the lost feminine aspects of christianity were and how they reflected
upon her own previous convictions and those of her church and the
members within, the author suffered a nervous breakdown very close to
Christmas. After this nervous breakdown and release from the
hospital the author felt drained and gave up further pursuing and
studying and searching about the lost bride of Jesus. Ironically,
shortly after, her husband had to meet with some business associates
that served on a committee called "The Syndicate Of Waters" who were of
French descent and the author went along to accompany her husband.
After talking to the French dinner guests who lived very close to
early christian shrines associated with Mary Magdalene and shared a
similar interest, the author realized the synchronicity involved.
This renewed her sense of purpose and resolve to teach and write with
conviction about the sacred feminine aspects of christianity which are
lost in modern christian orthodox teachings.
