Testimonies: Learning from friends

Knowing true friendship
I was the new girl in school. I had no friends. Everyone looked at me like I was an alien I was strange. My teeth were a little mess up. I did not have the in fashion hair style. I had my own style of clothes. I have never been in style. I have always been an outcast. The day was almost over. In my last class I met this girl. She was just as strange looking. She had a pretty face, but she had short curly jet black hair. She was very skinny. Her style of dress was not much better than mine. She had a fiery personality. We hit it off right off the bat. I walked home with her. She introduced me to her friends. She showed me around town. As the weeks went on we became attached at the hip. Erika didn't hang with the in crowd. That was more than cool with me. I noticed that the people in the in crowd were all fake.

My new friends stuck up for Erika and I like we were their little sisters. Not that Erika needed it. She might have been skinny but she had a lot of power behind her fists. She fooled almost everyone with her size. Especially when they started bullying me, she never let anyone hurt me. They always tried. We got in a lot of battles because we were our own people and wouldn't bow down to bullies. When I brought the idea of just doing what the bullies told me to she would kick my butt. In the most loving way of course. Erika has been my backbone from the day I met her and even through today.

Erika has been there for me when my heart got broken from my first love. She would come visit me at my first job. Of course it helped that she got free coffee. I worked a Dunkin Donuts at the time. We had a blast. I remember one day after school it was a Friday. Erika, Rachel, and I went to Erika's house. We decided we were going to have a night on the town. I asked my mom if I could spend the night at Erika's. Erika asked her mom to spend the night at Rachel's house. Rachel asked her mom to spend the night at my house. We didn't think of what was going to happen to us if we got caught. I don't think we really cared. We were young teenage girls who needed out. We needed to smell fresh air. Our way! We weren't quite sure what we were going to do that night. We just needed to get out. All mother said ok to the requests.

That night we walked all over town. At night fall we went over Bernie's house. All the boys were there. They said that they were thirsty so we all decided to walk to Dunkin Donuts. We sat there for hours.
