them up. They find comfort in their own complacency and want those close to them to stay near. They want us to agree with their view that the world is flat, even though research tells us otherwise. We disarm these people by removing their claws. Not allowing them to discourage our growth, gives us the freedom to grow.

CONSTANT COMPLAINERS

Have you ever been around people who talk negatively about everyone and everything? Complainers tend to get in the way of their own opportunities for success. They have very little joy in their lives, and see little hope that their lives will ever get better. Consequently, they can always find something wrong in the lives of everyone else. They do little to improve their own situation, because it's too easy to complain about it. They become dream killers and crabs when people around them attempt growth in any way. With them, we must stand our ground. When they say something negative, we must say something positive. When they complain, we must compliment. At times, we may find it necessary to separate ourselves from them. Working toward our dreams is more important than maintaining negative associations.

There is an old adage that simply states, "If you think you can, then you can". Believing in the goals established through research, diligence, and maintaining a positive outlook about the potential success of a project, carries more weight than what others may say or believe. Eliminating negative input is sometimes as easy as separating yourself from negative people.

One of the best was to counter the effects of negative people is to keep something close that gives us joy. Pictures of our children, a motivational saying on the back of a business card, or even verses from The Bible can be beneficial calming us after confrontations. Our own peace of mind is ultimately what is at stake, and our happiness is dependent on keeping it intact.
