Why do I believe Bush must go? Ah! The age-old question, it started as one that a few bitter Gore supporters asked themselves after the president's heavily contested win in the first election. Now, nearly 8 years later, the majority of our country, even once hard-line Republicans can't help but ask themselves why our commander in chief shouldn't leave his office ASAP. For me the answer is simple. Since taking office in the year 2000, President Bush has promoted nothing but his own self-interest. When challenged he stubbornly holds his ground so as not to be characterized as weak or show signs of inept leadership.
Aside from Bush's one shining moment, in the first few weeks following the September 11th attacks, he has given our country nothing but a crumbling foundation to stand upon and his constantly waning job approval rating can back it up. Whether it was the huge budget deficit he incurred, his conflict of interest when awarding defense contracts to Halliburton, or the striking lack of response in post-Katrina New Orleans, President Bush has done nothing but slowly maneuver our country down the wrong path. It is for this reason that I believe President Bush never should have been in office to begin with.
At present, the United States economy teeters on the verge of a major economic recession. Our Commander-in-Chief's only solution is to hand out even more money that our country doesn't actually have, to try and help boost the economy. After years of a budget deficit, it seems as though a recession, at least on the small scale is looming and President Bush's name can be signed on the line titled "sincerely."
As we look toward the future it is important that our country select a leader who can not only lead us on the homefront, but also abroad and can protect the best interests of all the citizens of our country. It is for this reason that our best efforts should be taken to remove President Bush from the political scene and make sure his influence can no longer be felt in our government. Enough has been done to ruin our country. We now must move forward toward the future with a plan to "rebuild" what was destroyed.
