At the juncture between adolescence and adult, teenagers are able to form lasting relationships that will remain for the rest of their lives. Building lifelong relationships is no simple task, but there are certain ways that will assist more than hinder. Teens need to put aside their egocentric tendencies and focus on putting their friends first. Listening is a vital skill, and since we have two ears and only one mouth, then it stands to reason that listening is twice as important. If we seek first to hear, then to be heard, we will be an effective friend, and the cornerstone of lifelong friendship is laid.

The creation of lifelong relationships requires the proper tools. These tools need to be handed down or lent to your teen by you, the parental role model. Every parent hopes that their children grow up to have many near and dear friends. Modeling the proper behaviors is your responsibility. Through your sage examples, your teens can mimic your methods and hopefully acquire some long-lasting friendships. To have true friends, you must first be a true friend. Giving of yourself freely and readily is of the essence.

Every parent would love to see their child build and nurture life-long relationships with as many different people as possible. There are several key ways to ensure that they have the ability to do so. Positive role models are an absolute must, and that duty falls squarely on the shoulders of mom and dad. Always be a beacon of light for others, available for whatever is necessary.

Parents need to show, through first hand experiences, the traits requisite of life-long friendships. Following are some key notions to consider when attempting to foster and instill values and morals in your teen children. Teach your children to be proud of who they are and where they come from. If you don't know where you are from, it really does not matter where you are going. Teach your children to be self-confident. Let your children know that they should strive to become leaders, not followers. Bucking societal trends and fads is not easy due to peer pressure, but if your teens have a strong support system in place at the homestead, they just may be more willing to march to the beat of their own drummer.

Put on display for your children your love and affection for your spouse. Openly tell your spouse how much you love them, why you love them, and the reasons as to why you will continue to love them until death do you part. Allow your children to see you kiss and embrace
